How to Pick the Perfect Location
Choose a location that fits your family’s personality.
Are you outdoorsy or do you relate with a more modern or urban landscape? Pick a location that will fit with the personality of your family. The location sets the stage for the vibe of your photos.
Consider how it will fit with the décor of your home.
Your photos are an investment and will likely adorn the walls of your home for years. Choose a location that will compliment and work well when hung in your home. Don’t forget to check what the space will look like in that specific season. Seasonal flowers are gorgeous but not realistic for the winter or early spring season. Be sure to consider what the space will look like during the time of year photos will be taken.
Pick a space that is meaningful to you in some way.
Do you have any places that carry a special sentiment in your family’s story? Do you have a special place you got engaged or married? Perhaps you want to include some views of the city?
Look for a space with variety and options for landscape and scenery.

Hartwood Acres Mansion offers a beautiful space with great variety with historic structures, a stone mansion and natural landscapes. The Hartwood garden is a popular destination with stunning flowers that bloom from May through October.

Mellon Park | Shadyside
Mellon Park is a very popular photo destination in Pittsburgh for all types of photos from families, seniors, wedding and more. It offers a ton of variety in short walking distance.

In-Home
There is nothing more sentimental than capturing memories where they happen the most — in your home. For a more natural and comfortable session, consider doing in-home photos. This is common for newborn sessions but a great option for family or maternity photos as well.
