Three boys under one roof means a lot of noise, a lot of movement, and — if you ask most parents — a lot of laughing at things that probably aren’t even that funny. It’s a specific kind of chaos, and one that gets more fun to watch the older they get.
I’ve photographed this family for years now, and this mom has always been intentional about prioritizing photos and choosing meaningful locations. This year we landed on Phipps Conservatory, and with everyone’s schedules as full as they are these days, finding a date at all felt like its own win.
We ended up moving the session earlier than planned to beat a storm rolling in, and this family didn’t blink — just showed up ready to go on a beautiful early fall evening instead. These boys have done enough sessions with me at this point that they’re completely at ease in front of the camera, and that ease turns into something else entirely once they all get going. We spent most of the evening laughing, and it shows in every single frame.
