Location: Fern Hollow Nature Center – Sewickley, PA
Not every session goes perfectly—and honestly, that’s part of the beauty of family photos. I’ve worked with this sweet family for many years now, and this session was a reminder that real life shows up sometimes, and that’s okay.
Their girls have grown so much since I first met them, and while one sister was happily along for the ride, the other wasn’t feeling the vibe of photo day. As a mom who’s recently been on the other side of the camera with a tough session of my own, I felt for everyone involved. I didn’t want to push or add pressure—but instead looked for little moments to connect, reset the energy, and bring out some natural smiles.
And it worked.
With some gentle patience, space to feel all the feelings, and a little creativity, we ended up with a collection of images I think will surprise them—in the best way. There’s beauty in the messy moments too, and I’m so grateful they trusted me to guide the process.
