Mellon Park is always one of my favorite spots for minis, and this evening reminded me why. The park was packed — it always is when the weather’s this good — but we still found our pockets of light and space to work with. No fall color yet, but the light more than made up for it.
I’ve photographed this family before, back when their son was just a little younger, and it was so fun getting to see him now. He’s got a big personality, but he was working hard to keep it cool for photos — arms crossed, doing his best “tough guy” look. It took a little convincing to crack him open.
We got there eventually. I asked him to whisper his mom a secret, and that was all it took — full laughter, completely unguarded, exactly the kind of photo you hope for. Looking back at some of our favorites from a few years ago, it’s wild how many of these new shots echo the old ones. Same silliness, same family, just a little more grown.
