An early fall extended family session with three generations at Fern Hollow Nature Center in Sewickley. All photos by Pittsburgh family photographer, Danielle Blewitt Photography.

Session Type: Extended Family Session
Location: Fern Hollow Nature Center in Sewickley | Pittsburgh, PA

Getting the whole family together in one place is no small thing. Between busy schedules, school, and little ones, the evenings when everyone is actually in the same spot don’t come around as often as we’d like, and that’s exactly what makes them worth photographing.

Pittsburgh weather kept us guessing that night, with a little misting rain threatening to roll in. This family rolled with it and showed up ready to go, and we ended up with a really nice evening at Fern Hollow. It’s still early fall, but this spot always gives a first look at the rich colors on their way.

I get to see this family around our school often, so it was fun to spend an evening with them away from the usual school events. Mom is a photographer too, and there’s a little extra camaraderie when you both know what goes on behind the camera. Having another photographer trust me with her own family’s photos is one of the biggest compliments I can get.

With the grandparents in town and her brother’s family along with their two little ones, the evening was full of catching up and laughter. The youngest easily stole the show, and everyone had their eyes on every cute antic. You could really feel how much love there is in this family.

Here’s a little sneak peek of some favorites from this early fall extended family session at Fern Hollow in Sewickley.

Life Moves Too Fast!

Hi, I’m Danielle. I’m a Pittsburgh Family + Newborn photographer. As a mom of two, I know how fleeting the early years are. Since we can’t slow down time, we can record the moments that mean so much. I help Pittsburgh families hit pause by recording these memories in photographs and films and I would love to work with you. Let’s see what we can create!
