I’ve been working with this family for a while now, so getting to celebrate their youngest’s first birthday with them felt extra special. This time we tried a brand new spot for me — Aspinwall Riverfront Park — a place this family visits often, so it felt right to bring the camera there.
The skies were overcast and moody most of the evening, but it ended up working in our favor. As the sun started to set, that soft light gave us some of the most interesting shots of the whole session.
Turning one comes with its own timeline, and this birthday boy let us know when he needed a break. We paused for a couple of snack breaks along the way, and everyone just rolled with it.
His big sister brought her own style to the session too — sunglasses on, a toy in hand, and not much interest in putting either down. There are hardly any photos of her without something clutched in her fingers, and it’s perfect.
