An Adventurous Family Session in the Mexican War Streets | Pittsburgh, PA

A fun family session exploring the colorful row houses of the Mexican War Streets and the open light of Allegheny Commons Park on Pittsburgh’s North Side. All photos by Pittsburgh family photographer, Danielle Blewitt Photography.

Session Type: Family Session
Location: Mexican War Streets & Allegheny Commons Park | Pittsburgh, PA

This mom wanted something a little different than our usual go-to spots, so we headed to the Mexican War Streets on Pittsburgh’s North Side. Location is always secondary to good light and laughter, but this one gave us a beautiful spread of options to work with.

The Mexican War Streets are full of character — colorful row houses, brick sidewalks, and history around every corner. Visiting for a session feels more like an adventure than a straightforward shoot. We spent time wandering the neighborhood, seeking out the best pockets of light and the most interesting backdrops along the way.

Once we’d explored the streets, we crossed over into Allegheny Commons Park for a more natural setting with beautiful, open light. Having both spaces right next to each other meant we got such a great mix of looks in one session.

This family is one that just laughs together. You can tell they genuinely enjoy each other’s company, and that energy showed up in every single frame. Even in the photos, you can practically hear the laughter and giggles throughout.

Here’s a little sneak peek of some favorites from this family session in the Mexican War Streets and Allegheny Commons Park.

Life Moves Too Fast!

Hi, I’m Danielle. I’m a Pittsburgh Family + Newborn photographer. As a mom of two, I know how fleeting the early years are. Since we can’t slow down time, we can record the moments that mean so much. I help Pittsburgh families hit pause by recording these memories in photographs and films and I would love to work with you. Let’s see what we can create!
