Some babies make you wait. This little guy decided he was ready to meet the world a little earlier than expected — but he came in strong, and this family was more than ready for him.
Walking into this home, it was obvious right away — this is a family that was excited to be on the other side of the waiting. Big brother answered the door in a detective jacket (as one does), and honestly, that tells you everything you need to know about the energy of this session. He was all in from the start — eager, sweet, and completely smitten with his new role.
We got lucky with timing on this one. Premies tend to have shorter wake windows, so the fact that baby boy was alert and eyes-open for the start of the session felt like a gift. We were able to capture some of the sweetest wide-awake moments and the cutest interactions between these two brothers before he drifted off. Those early sibling moments don’t last long — I’m so glad we got them.
This family’s path to welcoming their second was a little different than most, and that made it feel even more meaningful to document. You could tell every single moment of having this baby home was something they weren’t taking for granted. It was the kind of session where you slow down a little more, notice a little more, and feel grateful to be the one holding the camera.
Now — I’ll be honest. We got creative with this one. The space was tight and the light had a mind of its own, but mom and dad were the best sports, helping me rearrange things so we could chase every bit of window light available. That kind of trust and willingness always makes for better photos, and this session was proof.
