One of my favorite parts of this job is getting to photograph the same families year after year, especially in those early years when so much changes so fast. A year can bring a completely different kid — new personality, new energy, new everything. Getting to be there for that, session after session, never gets old.
This family is a perfect example. I photographed the youngest through maternity and newborn, and it’s been such a joy watching both girls grow up a little more each time we meet.
This year the two of them showed up full of energy and ready to be silly, and they absolutely delivered. They knew their job for the evening was to be happy and a little goofy, and they were more than up for it.
We had the last mini session of the night, which meant we got the best light of the whole evening — that warm, golden glow right before sunset. Mellon Park was glowing. It was that perfect stretch of early fall where summer hasn’t quite let go — low humidity, warm temps, no rush to get anywhere.
